The hotel
Milos Cove is perched on the cliffs above Agkali Beach on the island’s south coast — a private beach embedded in volcanic rock — with 42 suites and villas, each fitted with its own private pool or plunge pool with unobstructed views of the Aegean. The scale is larger than most of the island’s boutiques, but the private beach, the clifftop infinity pool, the Obsidian Spa and two restaurants give it a completeness that nothing else on Milos can match. It opened in 2018 and has built a strong reputation for the quality of its position and its finish.
The experience
The experience at Milos Cove is organised around the private pool and the clifftop position. Every suite and villa has its own pool or plunge pool, which means the terrace is a self-contained environment from morning through to the late evening. The Obsidian Spa uses the island’s volcanic obsidian in its treatments: a specific and local touch that distinguishes it from resort spas that could operate anywhere. The Pathos restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine with Greek and Italian influences in a glass-walled clifftop space that frames the sea view as deliberately as the rooms do. The private beach below is accessible to all guests. Plaka and Sarakiniko are reachable by car for guests who want to explore beyond the resort.
The rooms
Forty-two suites and villas across eight categories, all with private pools or plunge pools and terraces with Aegean sea views. Interiors are minimalist and modern, with muted tones, premium bedding, 42-inch LCD flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, minibars, espresso makers, furnished lanais and soundproofing throughout. Bathrooms feature walk-in showers, bathrobes and free toiletries. The larger villa categories sleep up to five or six guests and add private outdoor living areas alongside the pool. All rooms have air conditioning and free WiFi. 24-hour room service is available to all categories. Adults only: guests must be 18 or over to book.
Food and drink
Two restaurants and two bars cover all meal occasions. Pathos Restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine with Greek and Italian influences in a glass-walled clifftop setting: the glass walls on two sides make the sea view as present at the table as it is from the suite terrace. Pathos Privé is the more intimate dining option within the Obsidian Spa. The Agkali Beach Bar serves drinks and light bites at the private beach. The Pnoe Pool Bar covers poolside cocktails and snacks. Cooked-to-order breakfast is included, served at Pathos or in-suite from 8am to 11am.
The neighbourhood
Agkali Beach is on Milos’s south coast near Plaka — the island’s clifftop village capital, with traditional architecture and sunset views accessible by car in under 10 minutes. Adamas port is approximately 15 minutes by car for ferry connections and the island’s main restaurants and shops. Sarakiniko Beach, the island’s famous volcanic lunar landscape, is 20 minutes north. Milos airport is 15 minutes by car. A rental car is strongly recommended for exploring beyond the resort.
What makes it special
Milos Cove is perched on the cliffs above Agkali Beach on the island's south coast, a private beach embedded in volcanic rock, with 42 suites and villas each fitted with a private pool or plunge pool overlooking the Aegean. The scale is larger than most entries in this guide, but the combination of private pools throughout, the Obsidian Spa (which draws on the island's volcanic obsidian as its treatment signature), two restaurants, a clifftop infinity pool and the private beach gives it a completeness that no other property on Milos can match.
