The hotel
White Pebble Suites opened in Pollonia in 2021 with a design brief that took the island’s geology seriously. Athens studio KKMK — the architects behind the project — modelled the building’s curved forms on Milos’s wave-eroded limestone cliffs, creating a hotel silhouette that looks as though it was shaped by the same processes that formed the coastline it sits on. Three Greek-Australian women founded the property, which occupies a beachfront position in Pollonia with private terraces at the water’s edge and an interior palette of white, stone and natural materials that gives the rooms an unusually airy and open quality.
The experience
The experience at White Pebble is defined by its position: the Aegean is immediately in front of you at all times, the terrace access to the water’s edge is direct, and the building’s curved architecture creates natural windbreaks and shaded areas that make the outdoor spaces genuinely usable throughout the day. The hotel is a relative newcomer to the Pollonia boutique scene — opened 2021 — but has established a strong reputation for both design and service quality in a short time. The founding team’s Greek-Australian background gives the hospitality a warmth and directness that distinguishes it from some of the island’s more formally managed properties. Breakfast is served on the terrace facing the water.
The rooms
Twelve suites across three categories: Deluxe, Exclusive Sea View and Honeymoon Penthouse are all designed in the KKMK architectural language of curved white plaster, polished cement, cool marble and warm wood. Eight suites have private plunge pools on the terrace; the four upper-level Honeymoon Penthouse suites enjoy the widest views over Pollonia and the golden cliffs of Kimolos across the straits. Tine K Home furniture, pebble-shaped basins designed using CNC technology, iPads loaded with local recommendations, earth-toned textiles, minibars, air conditioning and Oliv toiletries are standard throughout. Guests must be 16 or over.
Food and drink
A Greek-inspired à la carte breakfast is delivered to the suite terrace each morning, you can order via the in-room iPad. The restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine with vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free options, and the poolside bar operates throughout the day with cocktails, snacks and light meals. Room service is available. Executive chef Kostandinos Slampakis leads the kitchen; guests can request custom menus. Pollonia’s fish tavernas are a short walk along the waterfront for informal local dining.
The neighbourhood
Pollonia beach is directly adjacent, with the village’s waterfront restaurants within walking distance. Kimolos ferries run several times daily from the small harbour — a worthwhile day trip. Adamas port is 25 minutes by car, Sarakiniko Beach 20 minutes, and the island’s southern beaches around 40 minutes. A rental car is strongly recommended for any serious exploration of Milos beyond Pollonia.
What makes it special
White Pebble Suites was designed by Athens architects KKMK with flowing curves inspired by Milos's wave-worn limestone cliffs, giving the building one of the most distinctive silhouettes of any hotel on the island. It was founded by three Greek-Australian women and sits directly on the Pollonia waterfront, with private terraces at the water's edge and an aesthetic that treats the Aegean view as the primary design element. Opening in 2021, it is one of the newer boutique properties on Milos and has established a strong reputation quickly.
